  • UCL CLIMATE ACTION SOCIETY

    We are a student group at University College London (UCL) aiming to organise for and promote climate justice, through campaigning, events and socials. Our main campaign is Fossil Free Careers, which aims to end the promotion of careers in the fossil fuel industry by UCL, at careers fairs, events and online. Instead we want to implement an ethical careers policy that ensures UCL stops endorsing careers in these climate destroying industries.

    We are a fun, vibrant and energised group who welcome all students at UCL- no experience or prior knowledge required! We are also keen to work with staff, especially those at UCL.

    We are open to collaboration with other student and staff groups working towards similar demands, though this will depend on our current capacity! Please get in touch via email or instagram if you have any questions or would like to reach out.

  • UEA BIODIVERSITY & CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK

    The University of East Anglia Biodiversity and Climate Action Network (UEA BCAN) is a network of staff and students working to address the biodiversity and climate emergencies centred within and around the University of East Anglia. We are building a community that actively works towards creating a positive, just and progressive future, both on campus and beyond. We urge UEA to use its position as an internationally respected higher education and research institution to drive systemic change. We have put forward demands to the university across seven categories:

    (1) Strategy, governance and delivery;
    (2) Curriculum;
    (3) Sustainable campus;
    (4) Funding and Finance;
    (5) International travel;
    (6) Catering; and
    (7) Careers

    We have working groups working on campaigns addressing a subset of these. Together we can fulfill UEA’s founding principle to “Do Different”

  • PLANT BASED UNIVERSITIES

    The Plant-Based Universities is an Animal Rising campaign that began in late 2021, calling on universities to transition to 100% just and sustainable plant-based catering to tackle the climate and nature crises.

    Since its inception, this student-led campaign has achieved landmark votes for fully plant-based transition at seven UK universities, including the Universities of Cambridge and Stirling.

    We currently have 70+ campaigns in UK Universities, all run by student teams on their campuses, and expect to grow to 100 campaigns at the beginning of the 2023-24 academic year.

  • JSO STUDENTS

    Just Stop Oil is a nonviolent civil resistance group demanding the UK Government stop licensing all new oil, gas and coal projects.

    JSO Students is the student wing of the campaign aiming to mass mobilise the biggest wave of youth resistance the UK has seen in decades. We are taking direct action in and outside of university campuses, building towards 1000s of students slow marching in London from the 12th November where we will force the end to new oil and gas!

    JSO Students are running regular events, welcome talks and socials on campuses across the country - currently 18 active groups across the UK, from Newcastle to Brighton. Sign up here to get involved!

  • NEW SCHOOL OF THE ANTHROPOCENE

    The New School of the Anthropocene is a radical and affordable experiment in interdisciplinary higher education in collaborative association with October Gallery London. We are an ensemble of experienced academics who, in the company of diverse artists and practitioners, wish to restore the values of intellectual adventure, free exchange and creative risk that formerly characterised education in the UK and beyond. Our curriculum is dedicated to the urgent need to renegotiate the cultural relationships between the human and more-than-human worlds (aka biocentrism) and uses the arts and humanities to address ecological recovery, climate justice and social renewal.

    The age-range within this heterogenous community extends from 18 to 78 and qualification-levels range from GCSE to PhD. We regard all our students as researchers who find their own rhythm, speed and pitch, and we do not differentiate between those who approach us as undergraduates and those who wish to undertake postgraduate work.
